Effingham Water Authority trustees have voted to establish a Park and Recreation Fund, with proceeds to be used on improvements at Lake Sara.
Since the erosion correction project at the lake has been completed, the Board agreed to reallocate $20 from the sale of each Water Authority resident and non-resident boat sticker, which had gone to the erosion project, to the Park and Recreation Fund. The plan will be effective starting with revenue received on the sale of the 2015 boat stickers.
Water Authority Attorney Tony Siemer reported he had been contacted by a lake resident in regard to the upcoming Moccasin Creek Festival to be held on The Stage at The Marina. Brian Larson, who is leasing the marina, is renting the area to the organizers and said they have taken care of the liquor, security and insurance matters. The organizers have indicated they'd be happy to talk with anyone who might have concerns about the festival.
Also this week, a variance request on building setback requirements for a lot at Topp Acres was tabled until all trustees can make an inspection, and Larson reported the gas pump and dock repairs are complete at The Marina.
