The Teutopolis Village Board has moved ahead with plans for a public hearing on establishing a Tax Increment Financing district.

The TIF district would include the West Main Street, or Route 40, redevelopment project area.  The land is along the north side of Route 40 at the west edge of the village.

Board members approved a payment of more than $826,000 on a water line construction project that will allow the transmission of water from Newton to Teutopolis.  The line has been constructed from the Teutopolis water treatment plant to an area along Illinois Route 33.

The Board also approved requests to close Route 40 for terquasquicentennial bed races and parade; purchased a mower from Performance Lawn and Power for $8,500; approved the appointment ordinance of village employees for the fiscal year; and approved legislation determining the prevailing wage rate for projects undertaken for the village.

Village Board members authorized Village Foreman Carl Pals to purchase two rebuilt aerators for the sewage lagoon for $2,500 each; named Trustee Dave Tegeler to serve as the Teutopolis representative on The Alliance economic development group; and approved June 11-12 as the dates for flushing hydrants in the village.
