Fire did major damage to a storage shed owned by Rick Willenborg Wednesday morning.
Teutopolis Fire Chief Tim McMahon said his department was called to the scene at 6:55am, after Willenborg's wife saw what first appeared to be steam coming out of the eaves of the building, but was then determined to be smoke. The storage shed is located north of Bishop Creek Church along 1150th Avenue, a half-mile south of Illinois Route 33.
McMahon said the fire was apparently electrical in origin and began around a work bench. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Considerable damage was done not only to the shed, but to four vehicles stored inside; a Jeep, a pickup truck, a race car and a collectible car. McMahon said the heat from the fire did most of the damage.
No one was injured in the incident. McMahon said his department was assisted by firefighters from Dieterich and Montrose. Crews cleared the scene at 9:15am.
