Opening statements are expected this afternoon in the murder trial of Charles Yoder.

The 53-year-old Yoder faces three counts of first degree murder in the stabbing death of Ted Debany in Effingham on May 7, 2013.

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler said jury selection was completed in Yoder's case Monday afternoon. Judge Kimberly Koester has asked for opening statements in the trial at 1pm today.

Jury selection was being completed this morning in the case of Jay Miller of Altamont. The 22-year-old Miller faces two counts including drug induced homicide in the death of an Effingham woman. Miller is to be tried once the Yoder trial concludes.
