The Effingham City Zoning Board of Appeals has granted a variance allowing a taller than usual garage to be built at a local residence.
Mike Mathy requested the variance for his home at 815 East Jefferson, saying he wants the pitch of the garage to match that of his home.
The variance allows a garage at a height of 21-1/2 feet, which is higher than the 20 foot maximum typically granted in a single family residence district.
No one appeared at the hearing in objection to the request.
