A Jasper County man has been given prison time for delivery of heroin.
Jasper County State's Attorney Kevin Parker said 36-year-old Joshua A. Hill of rural Wheeler has been sentenced to serve 48 months after pleading guilty to a count of delivering a controlled substance. Parker said the charges stem from an investigation last December during which Hill, while under videotaped surveillance by police, was observed delivering a baggy containing heroin to a confidential informant cooperating with law enforcement.
According to court records, a Jasper County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Hill after hearing testimony from police officers investigating countywide drug operations.
Following Hill's arrest, police searched Hill's rural Wheeler property and seized evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing materials on the property.
Once Hill is released from prison, he'll be on mandatory supervised release for two years.
