Three people were injured in a crash Monday morning in Shumway.
The crash occurred about 8am on Beecher Street and 800th Street.
Effingham County sheriff's deputies report a vehicle driven by 16-year-old Layton Barnes of Shumway failed to yield at a stop intersection. The Barnes pickup continued into the intersection and was struck by a SUV driven by 39-year-old Ginger Strauch of Beecher City. The impact caused Barnes' pickup to overturn and both vehicles ended up in a ditch.
Barnes, Strauch and Strauch's passenger, 21-year-old Breeanna Strauch of Beecher City, were all injured and were taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Barnes was then airlifted to a Springfield hospital for additional treatment.
Arrest information in the crash is pending.
Shumway firefighters and Effingham City-County Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
