The athletic co-op agreement between the Windsor and Stewardson-Strasburg school districts in some sports has gone well, leading the school boards for the districts to vote this week to co-op in all sports.

The Windsor board voted 5-2 Wednesday to approve the full co-op, while the Stew-Stras board voted 7-0 Thursday night in favor of the plan.

The full co-op will not begin until the 2015-16 school year, as it's too late in the year to have the agreement, changes in schedules and the like ready for the coming school year.

That means the coming year will be the last time the Stew-Stras and Windsor boys basketball teams will play in each other's Homecoming games, a tradition that goes back more than 50 years.

The districts have co-opd in baseball and softball for the past couple of seasons and things have gone well.  Declining enrollments and finances led to a further look at the full co-op.

Students in both districts will choose new sports team colors, a name for the sports teams and a nickname for the teams.
