St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital will honor the memory of the 1949 hospital fire and commemorate the completion of a new hospital in 1954 at a prayer service and anniversary commemoration event.

The event is scheduled this Thursday with activities planned from 3:30 to 5:30pm.  Here's the schedule:

--3:30pm--brief prayer service in the hospital's Healing Garden with a balloon release in remembrance of the lives lost in the fire

--a reception with displays and refreshments immediately following the prayer service in the hospital auditorium

--4:30-4:45pm-historical presentation by Delaine Donaldson

Throughout the event, there will be an ongoing re-broadcast of WEIU-TV's "Heartland Highways" recent episode on the hospital fire, and an opportunity to view historical displays, including the "Caledonia" fire engine that helped fight the fire.

St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital will be sharing historical information and photos on the hospital's Facebook page in May.  Visit the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/StAnthonysMemorialHospital to share your or your family's memories of the hospital fire or the subsequent growth of the new St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital.
