Two Crashes w/Injuries in County

Two crashes early Monday in Effingham County resulted in injuries.
One crash occurred at 1:05am on US 45, just south of 800th Avenue. County sheriff's deputies report a car driven by 49-year-old Kimberly Rueter of Effingham struck a deer on the highway. The car then traveled off the roadway and struck a tree. Police found the deer underneath the vehicle when they reached the scene.
Rueter was injured and was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. Watson firefighters and Effingham City-County Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.

A Beecher City teenager was injured in the other crash, which occurred at 6:12am on 300th Street, just south of 1500th Avenue in the northwest part of the county.
Deputies report a van driven by 17-year-old Emily Petty ran off the right side of the roadway, traveled across 1500th Avenue, ran back off the road, came back across and off the left side of the roadway and then struck a tree.
Petty was taken to St. Anthony's for treatment of her injuries.
No other vehicles were involved in either crash.
