A Missouri trucker was killed in an early morning crash Tuesday in Fayette County.

50-year-old Royce E. Horton of Highlandville, Missouri was headed west on I-70, three miles west of St. Elmo when her rig ran off into the median and overturned one and a half times.  Horton, who was not wearing her seat belt, was ejected from the semi.  Fayette County Coroner Bruce Bowen pronounced Horton dead at the scene just after 4:30am, about an hour after the crash occurred.

A passenger in the rig, 55-year-old Maurice Horton of Highlandville, was injured.  He was first taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham and then transferred to Carle Hospital in Urbana for additional treatment.
