Two people were injured in a car crash near the intersection of Temple and 4th in Effingham Thursday afternoon.
City police say the crash occurred at 1:40pm when a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Susan Russell of Newton rear-ended a vehicle driven by 86-year-old Betty Elam of Effingham, causing Elam's vehicle to rear-end a vehicle driven by 52-year-old Matthew Black of Effingham. Russell's vehicle continued to travel and also struck Black's vehicle.
Russell and Elam were both injured and were taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. Russell was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash and improper lane usage.
