Funeral services have been scheduled for Sgt. Timothy Owens, the US Army counselor and native of Effingham who was one of three soldiers killed in a shooting rampage at Ft. Hood, Texas last week.

The services for Sgt. Owens will be Saturday morning at 11:00 at First Baptist Church in Rolla, Missouri.  Sgt. Owens spent many of his junior high and high school years in Rolla as well as much of his adult life prior to joining the military.  Interment with full military honors will be in the Lake Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home Funeral Home in Dixon, Missouri.

A memorial service for Sgt. Owens is scheduled for Friday at 7pm on the lawn of the Old Courthouse Museum in downtown Effingham.  The Patriot Guard Riders will be present, and other Patriot Guard Riders plan to escort Sgt. Owens from Ft. Hood to Rolla for the services.

A separate memorial service was held for Sgt. Owens and the others killed or wounded at Ft. Hood Wednesday. President Obama was among the speakers.

A reminder that US and Illinois flags are to be flown at half-staff in Sgt. Owens' memory until sunset on Saturday.
