Effingham City Police and other agencies have removed a quantity of items from a house on South 4th Street following reports of possible weapons, explosives and gun violations.

After receiving the reports, a search warrant was executed at a house in the 600 block of South 4th Street on Sunday. City police were assisted by agents from the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Illinois Secretary of State Bomb Squad.

City police say "items of interest" were located, secured and collected as evidence.  A followup investigation continues through a cooperative effort between city police and the ATF.

Future charges are pending upon legal review by both federal and state authorities.
