A bill created to increase the time non-custodial parents spend with their children is headed to the state House.

The measure passed in committee on Monday. The legislation would give parents going through a divorce 90 days to setup their parent-sharing plan before the court gets involved.

When the court takes the divorce case, a judge must award the non-custodial parent 35 percent of parenting time, if he or she is declared fit.
