(WHAT REMAINED OF THE TRAILWAYS RESTAURANT WEDNESDAY EVENING)
An awful lot of breakfasts, an awful lot of chicken, and an awful lot of catfish were consumed during the years the Trailways Restaurant was in operation on the north edge of Effingham.
Now, the building that housed the restaurant has been razed to make way for new development on the site at the US Route 45 interstate interchange.
The Trailways has not been in operation for several years. Other businesses tried to pick up where the Niemergs left off, but none ever seemed able to duplicate the success seen there in earlier days. The last operation, The Foxx's Den, closed last year.
