The St. Elmo Board of Education Monday voted to establish a special committee to further investigate reorganization efforts with the Brownstown school district.

The boards from both districts met last week to discuss whether they wanted to consider consolidation again, as they did five years ago.  Back then, one district voted for the consolidation and the other voted against.

St. Elmo has decided to move ahead with further study of the issue.  The Brownstown board will discuss the matter when they meet later this week.

The St. Elmo board re-employed non-tenured teachers Tina Ashdown, James Megenhardt, Erick Somodi, Adam Hall, Douglas Thurnau and Melissa Wells for next school year, and accepted the resignation of Elise Asher as junior high head volleyball coach.

Board members also approved a contract with Design Architects, Incorporated and to proceed with the bid process for energy grant work.
