A Brownstown teenager is hospitalized after a Sunday crash.

18-year-old Shane Sefton was injured in the crash, which occurred at 1:41pm on the Brownstown Road, three miles north of Brownstown.

State police say Sefton's vehicle was northbound at what they termed a high rate of speed when he lost control of the unit in gravel on the shoulder.  The vehicle ran off the road and hit a ditch, then went airborne and then struck a telephone pole.  The impact caused Sefton, who authorities say was not wearing a seat belt, to be ejected from the vehicle.

Sefton was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield where he is listed in good condition.  Police say arrest information in the crash is pending.
