A Texas man was injured in a crash along I-57/70 in Effingham Tuesday evening.
State police say the crash occurred just after 6pm on Westbound 70/Southbound 57 just east of the Keller Drive interchange. Police say a car driven by 41-year-old Daron Rumley of Texarkana, Texas was in the far left lane and passing several vehicles when the vehicle moved to the right across two lanes of traffic and struck the rear of a semi tractor-trailer driven by 52-year-old Robin Hoga of Highland.
The impact caused Rumley's car to roll over and strike a concrete lane divider, coming to a stop facing oncoming traffic.
Effingham firefighters had to extricate Rumley from his vehicle. He was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment of injuries received in the crash. Hoga, the semi driver, was not injured.
Rumley was cited for improper lane usage and DUI.
