The Effingham City Plan Commission has voted to recommend the City issue a special use permit allowing use of Austin Mansion as a bed and breakfast facility.

The vote, after considerable discussion Tuesday night, was 5-3 with Commission members Dave Storm, Bob McGee, Jeff Bloemker, Mark Thies and Rob Macklin voting in favor and Greg Kemper, Kurt Buehnerkemper and Marty Stock voting against. Member Brian Hayes was out of town and could not attend.

The recommendation will be considered by the Effingham City Council at next week's meeting.

The Commission Tuesday also tabled a request for a rezoning of property at 804 West Grove from single-family dwelling district to attached single-family dwelling district.  Commission members are seeking additional information on the project from petitioner Steve Bushue of Bushue Property Management.
