Effingham Home Owner Rehabilitation Project 2014 still has some money available to residents in the city limits of Effingham.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (FHLB-C) is sponsoring the program through a partnership with Washington Savings Bank and the City of Effingham. The FHLB-C has provided a $400,000 grant for eligible home improvements. The grant dollars must be spent within the year and according to the guidelines of the program. 50 qualified applicants will be provided up to $7,800 per household to make eligible improvements.

This program operates on a first come, first served basis. Applications may be picked up at Effingham Senior Center, Helen Matthes Library, both Washington Savings Bank facilities, City Hall, and accessed online at www.effinghamil.com. Applications must be turned into the City Administration Office located on the 2nd floor of City Hall. Please allow 15 to 30 minutes for an initial screening at that time. City staff will go through the application with the applicant to insure it is complete and all supporting documentation is provided. If the application is not complete, City staff will provide further instruction to the applicant.

Time is of the essence. The deadline to submit applications is March 31.

Please stop by Administration Offices at City Hall for assistance or call Jane Kemper at City Hall at 342-5308 and she will help you with the application process.
