IDOT Will Begin Final Phase of Work on Interstate Around Effingham Thursday

The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that beginning Thursday, weather permitting, construction of the final I-57/70 project around Effingham will commence.

Construction will begin involving the Interstate 57/70 structure over US Route 45 and the CN Railroad.The majority of the work will be performed from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Sunday through Friday and all lanes will be open to traffic during the remaining hours. Motorists are asked to slow down, use caution, and follow all signs and message boards and consideration of alternate routes is recommended.

During this stage, entrance and exit ramps at the US Route 45 interchange will remain open to traffic at all times.McCarthy Improvement Co. is the prime contractor and Steve Miller is the Resident Engineer for the Department of Transportation.
