EHS Wins Boys, Girls Track Triangulars

Effingham High School, Effingham St. Anthony and Teutopolis competed in boys and girls track triangulars Tuesday.

The Hearts claimed the boys meet with 95.5 points followed by St. Anthony 52.5 and Teutopolis 33.

The Hearts’ Weldon Dunston was a double event winner. He claimed the 100 in 11.95 seconds and the 200 in 23.7.

Calvin Sudkamp also nabbed two wins, taking the high jump at 6 feet, 2 inches and the triple jump at 37-10 1/2.

Sam Spicer won the 400 in 55.8 seconds. Alex Gordon claimed the 1600 in 4:47.4 minutes.

Eli Hiatt was a winner in the 300 hurdles in 42.7 seconds.

In the field events, Blayne Ring was a winner in the discus with a heave of 133 feet, 6 inches and Brady McDaniel won the long jump at 18-4.

The big scoring numbers came in the relays where the Hearts swept.

EHS won the 4×100 relay in 44.7 seconds. Team members were Maxx Kistler, DJ Latham, Chase Starkey and Dunston. The Hearts then claimed the 4×200 in 1:34.4. Latham, Starkey, Jenner Pals and Dunston were the runners.

In the 4×400 relay, Effingham won in 3:36.7 minutes as Gio Santillan, Sam Spicer, Gordon and Pals were team members. The 4×800 relay went to the Hearts in 9:10.2. Team members were Alexander McFarland, Aaron Hill, Spicer and Gordon.

St. Anthony’s Noah Flaig claimed the 800 in 2:11.3 minutes. Camden Bloemer won the 3200 in 10:26.3 minutes.

Teutopolis’ Karson Zerrusen was a winner in the 110 hurdles in 15.5 seconds. Anthony Roley was a winner in the shot with a throw of 46 feet, 11 1/2 inches.

In the girls meet, Effingham won with 80 points followed by St. Anthony 60.5 and Teutopolis 42.5.

The Hearts won the 4×400 relay in 4:18.9 minutes. Team members were Baylee Summers, Macy Kirk, Emery Spicer and Jessica Larsen. They also won the 4×800 relay in 11:03.0. Summers, Anna Theis, Morgan Springer and Larsen were the team members.

Drew Weis won the 400 in 1:02.8. Alaina Miller captured the 3200 in 14:23.6.

In the field events, Camdyn Burgholzer was a winner in the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches. Kylie Pryor won the pole vault at 10 feet.

Effingham St. Anthony’s Reese Hoene was a winner in three events. She captured the 100 in 12.7 seconds, the 200 in 26.5 and the long jump at 16 feet, 3 1/2 inches. Aubrey Denning  and Liv Hoene won two events each. Denning captured the 800 in 2:19.4 minutes and the 1600 in 5:17.3. L. Hoene won the 100 hurdles in 17.1 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 50.2.

In field events, Madilyn Haarmann claimed the shot with a heave of 29 feet, 10 inches for the Bulldogs. Madelyn Gilmore won the discus at 97-7.

Teutopolis was a winner in the 4×100 relay as Adiana Davidson, Josie Bales, Ashlyn Pals and Emma Isley finished in 55.1 seconds. The Wooden Shoes also claimed the 4×200 relay in 1:54.9. Davidson, Cicely Mattox, Bales and Isley were team members.

Ella Neihls was the lone single winner for the Shoes, taking the triple jump at 34 feet, 11 1/4 inches.
