Teutopolis Hands C-W Tennis Loss, EHS Falls To Flora

Teutopolis claimed five of the six singles matches and two doubles contests in downing Casey-Westfield Co-op, 7-2 in high school tennis action Monday.

The Wooden Shoes swept the top four singles spots. Colin Habing was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 1 followed by Oliver Lee winning 6-1, 6-4, Will Lewis downing his opponent 6-4, 6-4 and Paul Huber taking a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Tommy Habing ended the singles victories at No. 6, by blanking his opponent 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, Lee and Thompson combined to win at No. 1, 6-2, 6-0 while C. Habing and T. Habing combined for the victory at No. 3, 6-4, 6-4.

In competition Tuesday, Teutopolis won over Salem 7-2.

In singles play, C. Habing was a winner at No. 1, 6-4, 7-5. Lewis won at No. 3, 6-2, 6-0. Huber claimed the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-1 while Owen Heuerman won at No. 5, 7-5, 6-2. T. Habing finished out at No. 6, winning 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles play,  Lee and Thompson were winners, 4-6, 7-5, 10-3 at No. 1. Habing and Lewis combined at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0.

At Effingham

Flora came calling and handed Effingham an 8-1 loss Tuesday.

The lone point for the Hearts came at the No. 1 singles spot as Rece Kinney was a winner in a tough-fought match.

Kinney won 7-6 (1), 2-6, 11-9.
