Effingham Junior High School handed Altamont a loss in both seventh- and eighth-grade volleyball competition Thursday.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade match, 25-11, 25-19 and improved to 14-1 on the season.

Kendyl Smith led in kills with eight and aces with six. Cloie Bailey had 11 assists. Arabella Barnhart led in digs with two for Effingham.

Altamont was led by Payton Ort and Mia Totten with three aces each. Teegan Burrus and Ort had two assists each. Burrus led in kills with three. Addi Neu had two blocks. Kinze Polk led in digs with four. Altamont is 10-11 on the season.

In eighth-grade play, Effingham won 25-12, 25-8 and is now 10-5.

The Mustangs were led by April Martin with seven kills and one block, Alayna Wade with nine aces and 11 assists and Taylor Davis with four digs.

Altamont was led by Alyssa Ruholl, Adelita Ruffner and Summer Martin with one ace each. Kara Bauer had two assists. Martin led in kills with two. Ruholl, Ruffner and Bauer had one block each. Ruholl led in digs with four. Altamont dropped to 3-14 on the season.

At Effingham

At Newton

Jasper County hosted Charleston and was a winner in both matches Thursday.

The seventh-grade victory was 25-9, 29-27. Wolf led in aces with nine. Briscoe had five kills. Mulvey led in assists with 10 and Ginder had one dig. Jasper County is now 10-4 on the season.

In eighth-grade action, Jasper County won 25-21, 25-18 to improve to 16-1.

Stanley led in assists with 12 and had two blocks for Jasper County. Wagner led in digs with seven and kills with seven. Bergbower had three aces.

At Newton

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City claimed both victories over Windsor Thursday evening.

CHBC won the seventh-grade match, 25-10, 25-14. Anna Hart, Elaina Thompson and Valentina Doty led in kills with two each. Hart had eight aces and 15 points. Doty had three assists. Thompson led in blocks with two. Reece Vaughn and Alyson Lawrence led in digs with one each.

In the eighth-grade contest, CHBC was a winner 25-21, 25-14.

Harper Lilly led in kills with four. Sophie Zumbahlen led in aces with four. Natalie Tucker had nine assists and 10 points. Lilly led in blocks with one. Raylee Martin led in digs with three

At Cowden

At Louisville

South Central came calling and split victories with North Clay (Louisville) Thursday.

North Clay won the seventh-grade match, 25-19, 25-19 to remain unbeaten at 9-0 in the NTC and 18-0 overall.

South Central was a winner in the eighth-grade contest. North Clay won the opening set 25-19 but South Central came back to win 25-17, 25-17 for the match.

North Clay dropped to 7-2 in the NTC and 13-6 overall in eighth-garde action.
