CHARLESTON — Effingham Junior High claimed both seventh- and eighth-grade victories over Charleston in volleyball action Monday evening.
The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest, 25-6, 25-16.
Emma Hood led in kills with five while Mackynzie Hites led in aces with nine. Kenley Moore had three assists. Judith Worman led in digs with four.
In eighth-grade play, the Mustangs won the opening set 25-15 but Charleston took the second set 25-23. Effingham then won the match 25-21 to improve to 8-5.
Alayna Wade had three aces, 15 assists and six digs. Olivia Koester also had three aces. April Martin led in kills with eight, blocks with two and had six digs. Sophie Niebrugge also had six digs.

North Clay handed Effingham Sacred Heart two losses Monday evening.
North Clay won the seventh-grade match, 25-20 25-9 to imrpove to 16-0 on the season.
In eighth-grade action, North Clay was a 25-16, 25-11 winner and is 12-5.
North Clay is back in action today at Dieterich in a 4:30 p.m. contest.
