 Newton Second at Olney Tiger Girls Track Meet

OLNEY — Olney claimed its own girls track meet with 126 points Monday followed by Newton 98, Lawrenceville 18 and Cisne 15.

Newton’s 4×100 relay team won in 51.6 seconds. Team members were Stella Schackmann, Morgan Schafer, Makayla McVicar and Sydney Kinder.

Newton’s Shay Bennett won the discus with a heave of 85 feet, 6 inches while teammate Maddie Brummer was second at 83-9.

The Eagles’ Audrey Beals went over the high jump bar at 4 feet, 10 inches to win.

Newton’s Layna Marshall claimed second in the 800 in 2:41.5 while teammate Lily Yager was third in 2:58.9. Marshall also finished second in the 1600 in 6:00.1

Schackmann was second in the 100 hurdles for the Eagles in 17.9 seconds and Schafer was third in 18.6. Schafer took second in the 300 hurdles in 52.9 while Karasyn Martin was third in 53.1.

The Newton 4×200 relay team won in 1:50.2 minutes. Schackmann, McVicar, Schafer and Kinder were team members. The 4×400 relay team finished fourth as K. Martin, C. Martin, Schumacher and Kinder competed.

The 4×800 relay team of Leila Tsunekawa, Kate Bierman, Lily Yager and Shay Bennett finished second in 12:31.5.

Schackmann finished second in the long jump at 15 feet, 10 1/4 inches. Isabel Meinhart took third in the triple jump at 31-3 3/4.
