Effingham High School played host to Salem in tennis competition Wednesday and fell to the Wildcats by a 6-3 tally.
Noah Jones was a winner for the Hearts in singles action. Jones defeated Kyler Sapp of Salem in a tough-fought match, 3-6, 7-6 (6), 15-13.
Blake Hagler and Jones combined at the No. 2 doubles spot to win easily, 6-2, 6-3.
Keaton Kellams and Cole Jones were winners at the No. 3 doubles. They lost the opening set 6-1 but came back with 6-0, 10-7 sets for the match.
Effingham is back in action today playing host to Taylorville at 4:15 p.m. before competing in the Troy Triad Match Play Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
