Kevin Mathis recently had a new 1,000 points banner made for Stewardson-Strasburg High School. The banner lists all the records from 1956 to present, there is room to add 20 more names.
There are 20 so far in school history for girls and boys. Brian Rothrock did hold the record for most points of 1,709 , in 1975, it was broken by Megan Schlechte in 2019 with 1,754 points.
“There has been a lot of talk about having this made, so I took it on to get it done,” said Mathis “It is 48 x 96 and made of max metal also known as ACM or an aluminum composite. It will be hung in our high school gym, this summer.
“A big thank you to Effingham Signs And Graphics and also Kevin Palmer for all the advice on getting this sign. This is something I wanted to do to honor some of the great athletes rom Stewardson-Strasburg High School. I purchased the board, had a couple different designs made up and asked everyone on the Alumni site on Facebook and the majority picked this one.”
