Sigel St. Michael won the championship of the Class 8-1A Mattoon St. John’s Boys Basketball Regional Tuesday evening.
The Sharpshooters, seeded first, downed Mattoon St. John’s in the championship contest, 32-28.
St. Michael now advances to its own St. Michael Sectional and will face the winner of the East St. Louis Younge Regional at 6:30 p.m. Monday, February 10.
Altamont Lutheran and East St. Louis Younge will be playing for the championship of the ESL Regional Thursday at 4 p.m.
Class 8-1A East St. Louis Younge Regional
Top-seeded Altamont Lutheran and second-seeded East St. Louis Younge were winners Tuesday evening at the ESL Younge Regional.
Altamont Lutheran diowned Pocahontas, 35-25 while ESL Younge won over Lovejoy, 36-27.
Altamont Lutheran and ESL Younge will now meet Thursday for the regional championship at 4 p.m.
Class 8-3A Teutopolis Regional
Top-seeded Teutopolis and second-seeded Robinson Nuttall both were winners Tuesday evening at the T-town Regional.
The Wooden Shoes easily defeated Lawrenceville, 60-29.
T-town held a 19-10 opening quarter lead and led 31-17 at halftime.
Sammy Probst had a big scoring night with 26 points while Kale Goeckner chipped in with 15. Blake NIemerg added nine.
In the second matchup, Robinson Nuttall defeated Marshall 32-26.
T-town and Robinson Nuttall will now meet for the regional championship Thursday at 6 p.m.

Class 8-4A Mount Zion Regional
Effingham, seeded third in the Mount Zion Regional, came out a big winner over second-seeded Mattoon, 39-19.
The Mustangs ran out to a 13-4 opening quarter lead as five players hit net. Joel Flack led the way with four points while Kaden Rohr hit a three-pointer. Cameron Moon, Coen Westjohn and Carson Jones all contributed a basket each.
The scoring slowed down in the second quarter but Effingham still held the advantage by an 8-6 count. Jones put in two baskets.
Effingham came out after halftime with a 12-5 run. Dagg Thompson connected on two three-pointers and a regular basket for eight points.
The Mustangs had a 6-4 final quarter edge.
Flack finished with 10 points for Effingham on five field goals. Rohr ended with nine while Jones and Thompson contributed eight each.
In the opening game of the evening, top-seeded Mount Zion downed Taylorville, 32-17.
Effingham and Mount Zion will now meet for the championship at 5 p.m. today.
