Effingham was a 43-12 winner over Effingham Sacred Heart in junior high boys eighth-grade basketball action Tuesday evening.
The Mustangs zipped out to a 17-0 opening quarter lead as Joel Flack scored 12 points while Dagg Thompson added a three-pointer.
EJHS led 27-8 at halftime as Thompson connected on another three-pointer and Cameron Moon scored a basket and a free throw.
Flack finished with 17 points to lead Effingham. Moon chipped in with seven.
The Shamrocks were led by Hayes with five points.
In the seventh-grade contest, Effingham edged Sacred Heart, 42-40.
The Mustangs held a 9-8 opening quarter lead but Sacred Heart came back with a 14-9 second period to lead 22-18 at halftime.
Effingham then had a 14-6 third period run as Calvin Beck knocked in six points and four others players scored two points each.
The Shamrocks had a 12-10 final quarter but couldn’t overcome that third quarter run by Effingham.
The Mustangs were led by Jared Klingler with 12 points and Calvin Beck with 10.
Sacred Heart was led by Gabe Traub with 29 points on 12 field goals and four of four at the line. He hit one three-pointer.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was a winner over Dieterich in both seventh- and eighth-grade action Tuesday.
In the seventh-grade contest, St. Elmo/Brownstown won 38-21. SEB edged out to a 7-5 opening quarter lead and led 15-6 at halftime.
Two players scored in double figures for the winners. Schaub tallied 20 while Schufflebeam added 11.
Dieterich was led by McQueen with seven.
In the eighth-grade contest, SEB won 33-19. SEB ran out to a 19-5 halftime lead and never looked back.
Wilhour scored seven for the winners.
Dieterich was led by Uthell with seven.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Sigel St. Michael split victories Tuesday evening.
CHBC was a winner in the seventh-grade matchup, 34-23. CHBC edged out to a 6-5 opening quarter lead and led 21-12 at halftime.
Ely Hoene scored nine for the winners while Drake Thull chipped in with eight.
St. Michael was led by Walk with eight.
In the eighth-grade game, the Sharpshooters won 43-37 in overtime. CHBC led 22-19 at halftime and held a 31-26 lead going into the final period. St. Michael tied the score and won in overtime.
Ordner led the way for the winners with 13 points while Ballinger added nine.
CHBC was led by Kaisyn Calame with 13.

Stewardson-Strasburg picked up two victories over Neoga in junior high action Tuesday evening.
Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade contest, 38-9. Stew-Stras held a 22-5 halftime lead.
Pruemer scored 18 for the winners.
Neoga was led by Matusas with three.
In the eighth-grade contest, Stew-Stras led 26-2 at halftime and went on for a 41-12 victory.
Two players hit double figures. Vonderheide led with 12 while Friese added 10.
Neoga was led by Brody Strobl with 10.

Teutopolis was a winner in both games over Mattoon Tuesday evening.
The Wooden Shoes claimed the seventh-grade B contest, 42-25 by stepping out to a 17-2 opening quarter lead.
Myles Hoene scored 10 while Brock Witges and Mzx Bloemer tallied seven each.
In the eighth-grade contest, T-town won 42-23. The Shoes led 31-13 at halftime.
Probst scored 11 for T-town while Schmidt added nine.

Altamont hosted Ramsey and captured two victories in Tuesday evening competition.
Altamont took a 20-14 halftime lead in the seventh-grade contest and finished out with a 37-26 win.
Jack Neu led the way in scoring with 12 points while Peyton O’Dell added seven.
In the eighth-grade contest, Altamont claimed a 30-16 victory.
Ramsey held a 9-5 opening quarter lead but Altamont came back with am 11-2 second period run to lead 16-11 at halftime. Altamont then had a 14-5 second half.
Logue scored 14 for the winners while Bannister added seven.

Jasper County edged Lawrenceville 43-39 in the LEIC Tournament Tuesday.
Jasper County trailed Lawrenceville 14-12 after the opening quarter and 29-20 at halftime. But the squad came back with a 12-2 third period run and moved ahead 32-31 and finished with an 11-8 final quarter.
Cambell Ulm led the way for the winners with 15 points while Hank Huber added 10. Huber was the top rebounder. Chase Kistner was the top defender and top passer.
Jasper County improved to 8-7 and returns to aciton tonight at Hutsonville against Paris Mayo.
