 BSE Beats Casey-Westfield, Vandalia Wins Over CHBC In Girls Action

BROWNSTOWN — Brownstown/St. Elmo handed Casey-Westfield a 54-22 loss in girls high school basketball action Tuesday evening.

BSE’s Presley Williams went on an opening quarter run, hitting two three-pointers and two regular baskets for 10 points while Dayana Haslett provided the other eight points on four baskets and the Bombers held an 18-5 lead.

The lead went to 33-8 at halftime. Haslett continued on with two three-pointers and a regular basket for eight while Williams chipped in with a basket and three free throws for five.

BSE finished out the second half with a 21-14 run for the winning margin.

Haslett tallied 20 points on nine field goals, two from three-point land, while Williams added 17 on six field goals, two three-pointers, and three of five at the line.

In the junior varsity contest, Brownstown/St. Elmo played Greenville and claimed a 37-17 victory.

Audria Logue led the winners with 11 points while Mya Barker added nine.

At Cowden

Vandalia came calling and claimed a victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Tuesday evening, 49-42.

CHBC held a 13-12 opening quarter lead but Vandalia came back to lead 25-21 at halftime. CHBC made a run in the third quarter to pull within 35-34 but Vandalia finshed with a 14-8 final period.

CHBC was led in scoring by Macee Rodman with 19 points.

Ethel Stuckemeyer led in rebounds with nine and assists with three. Averie Vaughn led in steals with six. Carissa Wakefield had two blocked shots.
