CHARLESTON — Effingham St. Anthony trailed Charleston by a 4-0 count after two high school baseball innings Wednesday.
But the Bulldogs didn’t give up, pulling within one run in the third and then winning the game with a four-run top of the seventh.
Both teams had four hits and both teams finished with an error each.
The Bulldogs went through four pitchers with Henry Brent coming out the winner. He threw the last three innings, giving up no runs on no hits, no walks while striking out two.
Will Fearday finished with two singles while Aiden Lauritzen had a double and drove in two runs. Brent aided his own cause with a single and two RBI and Brock Fearday also had two RBI.
St. Anthony is right back in action today at Breese Mater Dei in a 4:30 p.m. contest.
In junior varsity play, Charleston claimed a 13-2 victory in six innings.
St. Anthony had nine hits led by Will Vonderheide, Will Bierman and Jonny Gannaway with two singles each. Chase Dorris had an RBI.

Neoga picked up its latest victim defeating Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City by a 4-1 count Wednesday.
The Indians held a 2-1 opening inning lead then tallied their other two runs in the third inning.
Neoga had five hits led by Colin Blazich with a single, home run and two RBI. Cayden Hakman added an RBI while Landon Titus, Evan Fearday and Braylon Sparrow added a single each.
Malik Coy went the distance, giving up one run on three hits. He did not allow a walk while striking out eight.
Neoga improves its record to 12-5 on the season and will be back in action Friday at Dieterich.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City had three hits, all singles by Blake Mueller, Wyatt Rueff and AJ Radloff.
The Bobcats return to action today, traveling to Altamont for a 4:30 p.m. contest.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg tallied a 25-0 victory over Ramsey Wednesday.
At Arcola
Arcola took the early lead and blanked Cumberland by a 4-0 count Wednesday.
The Purple Riders struck in the first inning with two runs then tacked on two more in the fifth.
Arcola’s Tanner Thomas picked up the victory on the mound, going all seven innings, allowing three hits, one walk while striking out 17. He also led the team offensively with a double, home run and two RBI. Braden Phillips added a double and an RBI while Caiden Helmuth had two singles and Brevyn Whisman a single and an RBI.
Cumberland finished with three hits and an error. Bryson Weber, Grady Jones and Isaac Venatta had a single each.
