Daniel Wayne Reed, 77, of Stewardson, IL, passed away on Wednesday April 23rd, 2025, in HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.
Daniel, the son of Kenneth & Juanita (Forsythe) Reed, was born in Shelbyville, IL, on June 28th, 1947. On April 28th, 1971, Dan married the love of his life, Debra Lynne West. Dan grew up at the Shelbyville Airport, taking interest in planes, trains, and automobiles. He lived to be on the road, trucking for Land Star. When returning home, Dan enjoyed spending quality time with his wife, kids, and grandkids. He enjoyed fishing, attending truck shows & tractor pulls, and hosting his favorite annual ‘Reed Memorial Cookout’ at Hidden Springs.
He is survived by his daughter, Dani Thomas of Clarksburg, IL; son, Travis (Anna) Reed of Shelbyville, IL; Brother, Ronnie (Dee) Wicker of Shelbyville, IL; Sister, Sally Stirk of Albion, NY; Grandchildren, Aaron (Joselyn) Thomas, Zac (Sydni) Thomas, Brianna (Tyler) Horton, Michaela Thomas (Nick Cotner), Miranda Thomas (Nick Orsborn), Jacob Reed (Annaleise Cowger); Great Grandchildren Christian Thomas, Addilynn & Wesley Horton, and Liam Orsborn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Reed, on October 29, 2020; his parents Kenneth & Juanita Reed; and son-in-law, Mike Thomas.
Dan’s family will celebrate his life privately. Arrangements are by Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society and mailed to Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, 415 North Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
