Dixie B. (Ritchey) Sharp White, 67, of Effingham, formerly of Altamont, died at 11:11 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Family and friends are welcome to join in remembering Dixie from 2-4 p.m., on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, casual attire is requested. Memorials may be made to the family.

Dixie was born on Wednesday, November 20, 1957 in Vandalia at Fayette County Hospital to Edward Ritchey and Beverly (Hopper) Ledbetter. She was an ACHS graduate of the Class of 1976 and had worked at World Color Press, Effingham and for Corbin Escort Services. She had a love of travel having lived in Europe for 3 years and here at home visiting all 48 of the continental United States. Besides traveling she enjoyed her family, watching movies, playing music, doing cross stitch, diamond paintings and caring for her beloved cocker spaniels.

She is survived by; her sons, Chris (Becky) Sharp, Altamont and Matt (Jessica Wyatt) Sharp, Vandalia; daughter, Amie Sharp, St. Elmo; brother, Leonard (Susan) Ledbetter, Effingham; special family friend, Terry Danuser, Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Brandon (Endreah Stone) Sharp, Bible Grove, Casey Sharp, Altamont, Cody Sharp, Altamont, Jackson Sharp, Altamont, Cael Sharp, Vandalia, Jonathon Sharp, Vandalia, Garrett (Lexi) Sharp, Litchfield, and Kadin DeLisle, Hillsboro; 5 great grandchildren and one on the way.

Dixie was preceded in death by: her mother; step-father, Floyd Ledbetter; brothers, Charles Ritchey and Billy Ledbetter.
