Alice “Marlene” Heaton of Toledo, Illinois, passed away at 3:52 PM Saturday March 1, 2025 in the HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
She was born November 13, 1935 in Effingham, Illinois the daughter of Clarence and Leona (Evans) Poynter. Marlene married Robert Heaton December 26, 1954 in Neoga, Illinois. They recently celebrated their seventieth “platinum” anniversary. She was a retired School Bus Driver for total of forty one years, she drove for Kickert Bus Service in Lansing, Illinois for twenty nine years and then she drove for Neoga School District in Neoga, Illinois for twelve years. Marlene attended the Grace Methodist Church in Neoga, Illinois. Marlene enjoyed reading, collecting santas and especially spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Heaton of rural Toledo, Illinois; son, Terry Heaton (Joy) of Irving, Texas; daughter-in-law Pam Heaton of Mattoon, Illinois; grandchildren, Ashlee Ballinger (Adam) of Grand Prairie, Texas, Robert Heaton (Ariely) Dallas, Texas, JoAnn Ames (Tim) of Toledo, Illinois, Brian Heaton (Bonnie) of Etna, Illinois; great grandchildren, Michael, Amelia, Caitlin, Madison, Addilynn and Isabella; sister, Irma “Jeanie” Goeckner (Donald) of Chatham, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Jeff Heaton and Randy Heaton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Neoga Public Library.
Visitation will be Thursday March 6, 2025 from 11AM until 12:00PM at the Swengel – O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, Illinois. Graveside Services will be held Thursday March 6, 2025, at 12:00 PM. in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery of Neoga, Illinois.
