Betty L. Kenworthy 89, of Neoga, Illinois passed away at 7:00 AM, Saturday February 1, 2025 in the Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, Illinois.

She was born December 29, 1935 in Mattoon, Illinois, the daughter of James Henry and Viola Irene (Sampson) Womack.  Betty married John “Harold” Kenworthy June 20, 1954 in Lerna, Illinois.  Harold passed away April 21, 2002.  She retired as a Seamstress at the Mattoon Garment Factory and at Kern Manufacturing in Neoga, Illinois.  Betty was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Neoga, Illinois, member and past president of the Neoga Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Post 4325 Auxiliary, and lifetime member Mattoon Eagles Club.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, making dolls, reading, cooking, watching old western movies, and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Jennie Hahn (Jim) of Mattoon, Illinois, Bill Kenworthy (Jannie) of Neoga, Illinois James Kenworthy (Sherri) of Cowden, Illinois and Tony Kenworthy (Carol) of Neoga, Illinois;  Sister, Romona Lott of Modesto, California; grandchildren, Amanda McKee, Ryan Hahn (Kena), Eric Hahn, Tyler Hahn, Tommy Kenworthy (Celina), Amy Kenworthy, Brandon Kenworthy (Heather), Brett Kenworthy (Jordan), Brooke Kenworthy, and Dylan Kenworthy: Twelve great grandchildren; special niece, Diana Fearday (Keith). 

She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Harold Kenworthy; brothers, Dale Womack and Larry Womack; sisters, Emmaline Lampe and Patricia Brown.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Camp New Hope or Grace United Methodist Church.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. in the Swengel – O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, Illinois.  Visitation will be Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM until service time in the Swengel – O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga.  Burial will be in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery in Neoga Township.
