Martin “Marty” Jay Pulley, 66, of Effingham, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Marty was born on September 7, 1958, in Carbondale, IL, the son of Robert and Ann Pulley. He married Paula Jean Steppe on July 2, 1983, and she preceded him in death on May 3, 2021. Marty impacted many lives through his years of teaching and coaching sports. He lived his life as a great husband, father, and papa. He was known as a friend to everyone he met. He was passionate about sports and family.

He is survived by his son, Eric (Sarah) Pulley of Irvine, CA; daughter, Amy (Kasey) Minor of Effingham; grandchildren, Jay, Maggie, and John Minor; sibling, Dana Vinyard; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Paula; his parents, and sister, Kim.
