Stanley F. “Brownie” Brown, 64, of Lake Sara, rural Effingham, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the Effingham County Sportsman’s Club. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL is assisting the family. Stan was born on January 21, 1960, in Effingham, IL, the son of Noble F. and Idamae G. (Seaberg) Brown. He married Sue Ann Carter on March 26, 2021 at the Old State Capitol Building in Vandalia, IL. Stan graduated from Effingham High School in 1978. He worked with family at Fisher Hi-Boy Drive-In Restaurant as well as the gas stations belonging to Ray Gebben and Bob Ambuehl. When he was 19 years old, he went to lineman school and then worked at the Local 702 IBEW union hall for 8 years. He then went to work for Ameren, which is where he retired in 2015. Stan was an active member as well as the current Vice President of the board at the Effingham Sportsman’s Club. He was the Captain of the Orchard Inn/Donnewald Skeet Team, a member of Friends of Lake Sara, and a lifetime member of the NRA. He had a passion for fundraising and participated in fundraisers for the local hospice programs, and the Friends of Lake Sara Fireworks Fund. He enjoyed living on Lake Sara and boating. He also loved telling jokes and was a great storyteller. Stan was a generous and outgoing people person and never met a stranger.
Stan is survived by his wife, Sue Ann Brown of Effingham; daughter, Myca Brown (fiancé, Aaron Tieffel) of Shelbyville; stepsons, Matt, Adam, and Tommy Tieffel, all of Effingham; grandchildren, Joshua, Cayden, and Henry; sister, Bonita Hoffman of Watson; and brother, Jeffrey Brown of Effingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Robert Hoffman.
