On Sunday, December 1, 2024, Wayne Lovell started his 82 nd birthday on earth surrounded by his loving family. He ended his birthday being welcomed into Heaven by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Effingham. Burial will be Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Gerald “Wayne” Lovell was born on December 1, 1942 in Charleston, IL, the son of James and Maxine Lovell. He graduated from Oakland High School in Oakland, IL in 1960. He married Kay (McGregor) Lovell on April 7, 1963 in Oakland, IL. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Effingham. He retired from Ameren IL after 40 years of service.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Kay Lovell of Effingham; children, Alan Lovell of Effingham and Marilyn (Rob) Koester of Brazil, IN; grandchildren, Trenton Koester of Charleston, IL, Haley Koester of Brazil, IN, and Grace Koester of Brazil, IN; and brother, Dean (Judy) Lovell of Tuscola, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Darla Lovell; and parents-in-law, Marion and Pauline McGregor.
