Phillip Dean “Skip” Heaton, 76 of Neoga, Illinois, passed away Wednesday December 4, 2024 in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois.
He was born July 12, 1948 the son of Orville V. and Dorothy (Lashbrook) Heaton. Skip was raised by Phillips and Ruth Heaton. Skip married Kay French August 30, 1975 in Toledo, Illinois. Skip was a retired Head Pressman for RR Donnelley and Sons in Mattoon, Illinois, and a semi retired farmer. He loved camping, working with cattle and riding horses and especially visiting with family and friends. Skip attended the Truth and Grace Church in Mattoon and Illinois, Ridin’ The River Cowboy Fellowship in Bandera Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Heaton of Neoga, Illinois; son, Neil “Toby” Heaton (Monica) Mattoon, Illinois daughter, Jodi Creek (Larry) of Neoga, Illinois; grandkids, Andrew May, Courtney Arnold, Tyler May, Wesley Heaton, Krystal Warner, Cole French, six bonus grandkids; 11 great grandkids; 12 bonus great grandkids; brother, Robert Heaton (Marlene) of Toledo, Illinois; nephew Terry Heaton (Joy) of Texas.
Preceded by parents and brother, James Heaton; nephews, Jeff Heaton and Randy Heaton.
Memorials are suggested to Neil “Toby” Heaton for ongoing medical expenses.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday December 10, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Swengel – O’Dell funeral Home of Neoga, Illinois. Inurnment will be in the Haven Of Rest Columbariums in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
