A Beecher City man has been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a weapon.

28-year-old Tristan Durre was arrested by Effingham City Police in May of 2023 following an altercation in downtown Effingham during which a person was stabbed. Effingham Police Chief Jason McFarland said at the time that Durre was arrested about 11pm along Jefferson Avenue.

Another charge of possession of a weapon along with counts of disorderly conduct and resisting a police officer were dismissed in exchange for prosecution of the more serious charge.
