Fire destroyed a house near Strasburg Wednesday morning, and a person was found dead inside the structure.
Shelby County Coroner Beth Debolt said the victim was Bruce Krile, 69, of Strasburg. Krile had lived alone in the family home since the death of his wife six months ago. Krile was a longtime auctioneer and worked throughout the region.
The call came about 6am at the house north and east of Strasburg. The State Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to help determine the cause of the fire.
Strasburg Fire Chief Troy Agney said the fire did the most damage to the west side of the house, but said there was smoke and water damage throughout the structure.
Strasburg firefighters were assisted by fire companies from Stewardson, Shelbyville and Windsor. Strasburg firefighters remained on scene to assist the Fire Marshal’s representative.
