The Effingham County Board’s Legislative Committee talked Monday about whether any action should be taken on a wind or solar energy farm.
County Board Chairman Josh Douthit told committee members that he’d like to monitor action that could be taken by the Coles County Board, then decide what Effingham County could do.
Board member Norbert Soltwedel countered that the Board should go ahead to get something regulating the farms on the books, but there was no action on the issue.
Committee members discussed Law Day, Police Week, Police Officer Memorial Day, and Sexual Assault Awareness Month and plan to move ahead with recognizing those events. There was also discussion of fire district trustees in Dieterich, Watson, Tri-County, and Altamont, with action to appoint the trustees at the full County Board meeting next week.
