 Unemployment in Illinois Relatively Unchanged in January

Nonfarm payrolls were almost unchanged in Illinois in January, down 1,100, while the unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.9%.

The Illinois Department of Employment Security reported that compared to a year ago, total nonfarm payroll jobs in the state increased by 36,000 jobs. The industry groups with the largest job increases included Private Education and Health Services; Government; and Leisure and Hospitality.
