A celebration of 50 years of women’s sports at Effingham High School was highlighted by the retiring of the jersey of Blair Hardiek, the all-time basketball scoring leader in EHS history.

Hardiek scored 2,540 points for EHS from 1999 to 2003. She went on to a highly successful career at the University of Missouri, where she was a team captain. She continued in basketball on the coaching staff at the University of San Francisco, was a Golden State Warriors sports analyst for NBC in the Bay Area, coached at San Francisco State, and is now the Chief Strategy Officer for the two-time champion Las Vegas Aces of the WNBA.

Blair is married to Olympic gold medalist Jennifer Izzi. They have a son Macklin and a daughter Camden.

Our Greg Sapp had the opportunity to talk with Blair prior to Saturday’s jersey retirement ceremony. Here’s that interview…

A host of women athletes who attended Saturday’s ceremony were recognized between the JV and varsity games for the Lady Hearts.
