Effingham St. Anthony won the Class 7-2A Casey-Westfield Sectional and will now head to State.
Effingham St. Anthony and Teutopolis claimed girls seventh-grade basketball sectional championships to advance to State Tournaments this coming Saturday.
The Bullpups won the Class 7-2A Casey-Westfield Sectional by trouncing Nokomis, 39-7.
St. Anthony stepped out to a 10-1 opening quarter lead then held Nokomis scoreless in the second period to lead 14-1 at halftime.
Bella Schultz led the way with 17 points while Nina Semple added nine.
St. Anthony now advances to the Class 7-2A State Tournament at Riverton High School Saturday.
The Bullpups, with a 20-3 record, will meet Mount Sterling Brown County with a 24-0 mark at 2:30 p.m.
In other first round games, Sidell Salt Fork (17-4) faces Spring Valley Kennedy (25-1) at 10 a.m., Bourbonanis St. George (15-3) meets Springfield Christian (19-1) at 11:30 and Bloomington Corpus Christi (16-4) takes on the winner of Sectional Five at 1 p.m.
The winners of those four games advance to the semifinals at 5 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The losers of the semifinals drop into the third place contest December 12 at 6 p.m. while the winners will square off for the championship at 7:30 p.m.

At Paris
Teutopolis handed Lawrenceville Parkview a 33-29 loss to claim the championship of the Class 7-3A Paris Mayo Sectional Wednesday.
T-town improved to 24-1 on the season wihile Lawrenceville Parkview ended its season at 20-2.
The Shoes advance to the Class 7-3A State Tournament at Auburn High School Saturday.
The Shoes will face Springfield Lincoln (18-0) at 2:30 p.m.
In other games, Germantown Hils faces Channahon at 10 a.m. followed by Westville against the winner of Sectional 1 at 11:30 and Downs Tri-Valley taking on Staunton at 1 p.m.
The winners advance to the semifinals at 5 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The third place contest is scheduled for 6 p.m. December 12 while the championship game is at 7:30 p.m.
