Effingham City Commissioner Merv Gillenwater’s resignation is effective Wednesday, April 30.

Applications from those interested in filling the final two years of Gillenwater’s term are due by 3pm Wednesday,  April 30. Those interested in succeeding Gillenwater are asked to submit a letter of interest including this information:

Your full name

Physical and mailing address

Your personal qualifications to serve as Commissioner

Describe your knowledge of Effingham

Describe why you are interested in serving as a Commissioner

Provide proof that you have been a qualified voter of Effingham for at least one year prior to appointment.

Submit your letter of interest to City Administrator Steven W. Miller by Wednesday at 3pm at City Hall, 201 East Jefferson Avenue, Effingham, or via email at smiller@effinghamil.com. For questions, call 217-342-5300, extension 5314.

Gillenwater’s successor will be decided by a vote of the remaining council members.
