Stewardson Trinity won the championship of the St. Anthony Eighth-Grade Tournament.
Stewardson Trinity won the Effingham St. Anthony Eighth-Grade Volleyball Tournament Saturday.
Trinity defeated Holy Cross 25-17, 25-9 and Red Hill (Bridgeport) 25-9, 25-17. The team downed North Clay (Louisville) 25-5, 25-12 and won over Sigel St. Michael to claim the championship, 25-16, 25-20.
Trinity is now 14-0 on the season.
In other matches, St. Anthony defeated Heritage 25-15, 26-24. St. Michael downed Oblong, 25-16, 21-25, 15-10. St. Michael also claimed a win over Heritage, 25-12, 25-8. Oblong beat St. Anthony 25-20, 25-19 and Heritage 25-10, 25-15. St. Michael defeated St. Anthony 25-19, 25-10.
On the East Court, North Clay won over Red Hill 25-8, 25-21. North Clay downed Holy Cross 25-9, 25-12 and Red Hill won over Holy Cross 25-23, 25-12.
In championship play, Red Hill defeated St. Anthony, 25-15, 25-23 and Trinity won over St. Michael 25-16, 25-20. Heritage defeated Holy Cross 25-18, 25-23 and Oblong downed North Clay.

At Albion
Effingham’s seventh-grade team.
Effingham’s seventh- and eighth-grade teams made it to the championship matches of the Albion Tournament during the weekend.
The Mustangs came out the champions of the seventh-grade tournament while they finished second in the eighth-grade tournament.
Effingham’s eighth-grade squad finished second.
At Teutopolis
Teutopolis defeated St. Elmo/Brownstown in seventh-grade action Friday.
The Wooden Shoes won the opening set 26-24. SEB came back with a 25-21 victory. T-town won the match 25-20 to improve to 6-6.
In the eighth-grade contest, T-town was a winner 25-17, 25-19 and improved to 9-3.
Jenna Beckman had 10 assists, two aces, four digs. Bella Niebrugge had eight kills, four aces, one block and seven digs. Faith Ruholl had three aces, four kills and six digs and Rose Brummer had two blocks, four kills and three digs.
T-town is back in action Thursday at Dieterich.
At Greenville
Altamont competed in the Greenville Seventh-Grade Tournament.
The squad lost to Gillespie, 25-10, 25-25. Altamont then won over Pocahontas 25-17, 25-12.
Altamont finished with a loss to Greenville, 26-24, 25-20.
Altamont is now 6-8 on the season.
At Newton
St. Anthony defeated Jasper County in the seventh-grade contest Thursday while Jasper County was a winner in eighth-grade action.
The Bullpups won 26-24, 11-25, 25-22. Jasper County dropped to 6-3 on the season.
In eighth-grade competition, Jasper County was a winner 25-21, 25-7 and improved to 8-1.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Stewardson-Strasburg squared off in action Thursday.
Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade match, 25-19, 25-17. Anna Hart led CHBC with three kills and three digs; Kaycie Thatcher and Harper Collins had two aces each. Thatcher and Valentina Doty had two assists each. Hart had one block and three digs. Reece Vaughn had three digs and five points.
In eighth-grade play, CHBC was a winner, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22.
CHBC was led by Harper Lilly and Sophie Zumbahlen with four kills each. Natalie Tucker had six aces, nine assists and 11 points. Lilly led in digs with five.
At Strasburg
