 North Clay Chooses New Board Offices, Deals w/Many Personnel Matters

North Clay Board of Education members reorganized in the wake of this month’s election at this week’s meeting.

Newly-elected member Ashely Brooks and re-elected members Barry Adair, Ryan Ballard and Anthony Dawkins were sworn in. Brooks succeeds Jonathan Carroll who was recognized for completing eight years on the Board.

Ballard was elected Board President, Aaron Kincaid was chosen vice-president, and Brooks were elected Board Secretary.

The North Clay board set substitute teachers pay to $150 for a full day and $75 for a half day, and also set rates for athletic officials for the coming school year.

Board members heard from Superintendent Keith Price that the district construction project is days away from completion, with the exception of installation of final electrical panels and other cosmetic details.

Many personnel details were approved. The resignations of Diona Griffy as bus driver, Billy Coble as 5th and 6th grade girls basketball and as 8th grade girls basketball; Jessica Bell as 7th grade girls basketball coach; Doug Philips as 7th grade boys basketball coach; and Chad Traub as district technology coordinator.

The Board rehired all current non-certified teachers for the coming school year; hired Michael Teague as fulltime custodian; hired Brian Swope as junior high school cross country coach for the coming school year; hired Taya Baggett as a Music teacher for the coming year; hired Sam Erwin as high school PE and Health teacher for the coming school year and as high school cross country coach; hired Mackenzie Walker as high school assistant volleyball coach; hired Allie Krutsinger as junior high school head cheer coach; provided the Administration permission to hire necessary summer school staff; authorized the superintendent to set Billy Coble’s contract as building and grounds director; to set Chad Traub’s pay rate as technology coordinator; and Jami Lewis’ contract as district bookkeeper; authorized the superintendent to set the food service director pay rate and to set the contract for the special education coordinator; and provided the administration permission to hire non-certified staff as needed.

Superintendent Keith Price shared an update regarding the Pre-K facility and discussed strategic planning for the school district.
